Seventh Annual Conewango Creek and Allegheny River Cleanups – September 12-19, 2015

This annual event will be held during the week of September 12-19th 2015, rain or shine.

Priority of the cleanup will be given to the Conewango Creek this year, due to its River of the Year status.

Volunteers will cleanup the waterway and shorelines of all debris using canoes and kayaks and storing trash in provided trash bags. Items too big to haul will be marked with brightly colored marking ribbon for larger vessels to retrieve.

Volunteers are also needed on land to collect, sort, and haul the trash that the paddlers bring ashore.

All volunteers should dress for any kind of weather and wear sturdy close-toed shoes and wear long pants for walking in all kinds of situations (mud, water, plants, rocks, etc.).  Also bring sunscreen and insect repellent and plenty of water, a lunch, and snacks.

The Conewango Creek Cleanup is part of the larger Allegheny River Clean up held every September.  For more information on this annual event, head on over to the Allegheny River Cleanup website at: http://www.alleghenyrivercleanup.com/
