A Day of Fun Cleaning up the Outlet at Chautauqua Lake!
The Second Annual Chautauqua Lake Cleanup will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
The Conewango Creek Watershed Association (CCWA) will again partner with Chautauqua County, the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association (CLFA), the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy (CWC), Evergreen Outfitters, and the U.S. Forest Service–Allegheny National Forest to clean up the stretch of the waterway where the lake empties into the Chadakoin River.
The Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association is again providing the base for our operations (parking, docking, loading/unloading trash, restrooms, coffee/donuts and hot dog lunch). Park in front of their building at 9 E Chadakoin Pkwy, Celoron, NY 14720. Map is HERE.
Each participant will need to wear sturdy closed-toed shoes, and dress for getting muddy and for the weather. We will cleanup rain or shine! Participants will also need to bring their own snacks and water.
We will provide trash bags, gloves, marking tape, and watercraft if you need it. Participants may bring their own watercraft also–just indicate whether you will need a canoe or kayak (and how many are in your party) when you register.
Registration will begin at 8:30AM and persons will be assigned to clean up the shoreline around the Outlet. We will primarily be doing the cleanup from boats, but shore cleanup may be arranged as well. We’ll cleanup debris and collect, sort, and haul the trash on land. So we need lots of volunteers for both land and water cleanup operations.
Morning coffee and donuts will be provided by the CLFA. The cleanup will end by 2:30PM, but a few volunteers will be needed to finish tear-down and haul the final loads to the Chautauqua County Landfill.
Pre-Registration and completion of 2 Waivers are Required so we can plan accordingly.
